Question: |
Our Answer |
|
Jacuzzi will not
heat....all displays say it is heating, but it
won't get above 65 degrees |
If the heater light
is ON, then it's one
of two things.
Likely it's the
heater assembly BUT
it could be the
pcboard itself. If
you have a voltmeter
and know how to use
it, you can place
the probes on the
heater posts while
it's running and
check for voltage.
If you have proper
voltage, then it's
the heater. If you
don't have volts,
then it's the
pcboard.
If you don't have
access to a meter,
then most likely it
is the heater.

My spa would not
stay on, it would trip the GFI. I kept turning it
on, hoping that it would stay on and perhaps dry
out whatever was shorting. Sometimes it ran for
two hours, others for 5 minutes. Finally, it
wouldn't turn on any more. I opened the circut
braker cabinet and found that the breaker was
somewhat melted, so I replaced it. But, still the
spa would not run.
I opened the spa and found power to the pc panel,
the built in fuse on the pc panel is good, but the
spa will not run. The lights will not turn on, the
control panel is dark, the water is cold and the
motors are still.
How can I be sure the power is hooked up
correctly? Or, is there another problem?

IF the gfci pops,
it's almost always
the heater. To
check, do this. Turn
off main power and
remove the metal
cover on the control
box. You will see
the heater; the
steel tube.
Remove the 2 bolts
that hold the 2
copper straps to the
pcboard. CAREFULLY
bend the straps back
about 1/8". I say
carefully because
the heater posts
will bend and break.
Once you have both
bent back, turn on
main power. IF the
spa now comes on,
it's the heater...
the most likely
thing. You need to
replace.
