Ozonators

Question: Our Answer

what is the advantage of an ozonator and is it worth installing

An ozonator inserts O3 or ozone gas into the water. What that does is lowers your need for sanitizing chemicals such as chlorine or bromine. Many people like it because then have to use less chemicals to keep the water clear.

Depending on the type of ozonator, it will last 2 or 3 years. So cost wise, it probably is a wash. But if you want to lower the smell of chemicals, it will do so. Don't believe anyone who says it eliminates chemicals. But your spa is not a high traffic, community spa, it will help.

I was wondering how to find out if I have an ozonator on my spa.  I look at the circuit board and see a wire for the ozonator. But Im not sure if it hooks up to an ozonator or not. If it does I cant find the ozonator.

As a rule of thumb, the Z140 came ozone ready but without one. So you had to add the ozonator.

But to confirm, the Z140 has a socket either on the side or bottom of the control box labeled OZONE. The socket will be next to the pump plugs and light plug. IF the socket is empty, you don't have an ozonator.

FYI: if the spa never had an ozonator, it IS ozone ready. You will need to order an ozonator WITH a mazzai. Install is pretty easy.
