PC Boards

Question: Our Answer

The spa will run for a while, and may or may not reach the temperature requested, but will suddenly stop heating and flash OH.  We then have to unplug it, and plug it back in, before it will try to begin heating again.  A spa repairman replaced the pump in 2001, thinking that might help, but we continued to have problems.  He said he was going to order a new control panel (or something like that) but we never heard from him again

First, try this test: Turn off power. Turn on and LISTEN. If you hear bubbling before the pump comes on, you need a new pcboard.

IF there is a delay of about 8 secs and then the pump comes on and then the heater, you probably need a new OH sensor

my jacuzzi only has one pump when i replaced the circuit board nu# 2600-019 which is the that was recommended for control box f-109 every thing works fine except the pump only runs on low and heats the water. when i switch to high it continues to run on low but it also turns on the switch for pump nu# 2 but there is no pump # 2 there is only one pump. i have check the pump it runs fine on high but i can not get it to run by the control topside . I have replaced the topside it does the same thing . i have disabled pump nu# 1 it does the same thing .is there any way to jump pump#2 high to pump #1 high to make the jets come on

You might have not have told the pcboard which setup you have. To do this, turn off main power and remove the control box cover. Look up at the top center of the pcboard. You will see a "jumper" switch labeled: "Pump 2 Enable". It's either set one of 2 ways; either there is a jumper dangling on one of the 2 wires OR the jumper connects to the 2 wires. Whichever you have, change. If the jumper is only on one wire, connect them both. If the jumper is on both wires, pull the jumper off.

On last thing to also check: on the left center of the pcboard you will see another jumper with a 20a/50a label. That tells the board whether you are running the spa on 110v (20a) OR 220v (50a). That IS important. If you are running on 110, the top and center wires should be connected by the jumper. IF you are running on 220v, the center/bottom wires should be connected.

One last thing to look at: on the upper left corner are 4 wires that come out of the board that just sit there. Make sure these 4 wires are not touching each other.

During a thunderstorm this weekend lighting knocked out my alarm system, answering machine, etc.  Also did something to my hottub.  After the storm I went to turn on the hot tub and nothing happened.  So I checked the breakers and they seemed not to have been triped, though I manually turned them off and then back on.  Went back to the hot tub and pushed the button to turn it on and the motors and light turned on for about one second then went off and would not come back on.  So I manually turned the breaker off and then on again.  Turned the hot tub on and it ran for about one second then went off again and would not come back on unless I triped the breaker again, and then only for one second. The orange colored light that indicats the heater is on lights up so I assume that there is power to the tub.

There's a high likelihood that the zap took out the spa but lets test a couple things.

Open the wood access. Now have someone turn on main power while you stand next to the spa. When the power is first turned on, you should HEAR a CLICK and the heater light should come on for about 5 secs. Then the heater light should go off. About 5 secs later, there should be another CLICK; that would be the #1 pump. What do you hear?

Typically, lightning takes out the pcboard and often the heater. Sometimes the topside but that's rare and I have seen the low pump go, but again, rare. So I thinking you will need a new pcboard and probably a new heater.
